The novel "DANNY THE PROPHET" by Tom O'Connell is the
UNFORGETTABLE STORY OF A MAN RELUCTANT TO BECOME THE LAST PROPHET. Having
worldly plans, he persuades The Power to postpone his mission until he has
lived a full life. Pursuing his personal goals while lubricating himself with alcohol,
Danny Lyons GAINS FAME as a journalist, successful politician, and shrewd
public relations practitioner. Yet when The Power comes back later to
recruit him, he REMAINS RELUCTANT and doesn't want to go along with the
deal. HE PREFERS THE WHEELING AND DEALING OF HIS WORLDLY LIFE. To motivate him, The Power takes him on a FANTASTIC JOURNEY. First,
Danny absorbs wisdom in The Cave of Contemplation. Then, with his angel
Aurea Catena, he faces perilous adventures on The River of Life and Death.
Later, he explores The Mountain of Mysterious Secrets. And he is exposed to
AMAZING MYSTICAL DIMENSIONS OF REALITY. Does he fulfill his destiny and become the last prophet? LET DANNY
TELL YOU HIS TALE. You will be transported into dimensions you have never
experienced. The most effective comments the publisher can make are contained in
the following testimonials from readers: "I could not put this book down! It was FUNNY, LIVELY,
ENLIGHTENING." "What A PLEASURE TO READ...post Celestine Prophecy." "a book well WORTH SAVING AND RE-READING." "AN ADVENTURE I WILL NEVER FORGET. It gave me more insight on
what Heaven may be." "WOW!" When I wrote the first version of Danny The Prophet in the late
1970s I found myself on an astounding journey of the imagination as the
words came pouring out of my unconscious mind in passages that astonished
me. I was transported into other more mystical dimensions while doing
my writing. And I was not sure how many readers would enjoy the same
journey, but I was certainly exhilarated by the fantastic ride I was
experiencing. I see it as a highly imaginative work of art that helped to
shape me even while I thought I was the one doing the creating. In the 1990s as we approached the millennium I realized that my
book would be especially relevant to the times. So I went back to the
manuscript and refined it a bit here and there to get it ready for
publication. The basic story that came flowing from me in the late 1970s remains
intact. And to this day, when I read passages from Danny The Prophet, I
still enjoy the flights of imagination and the profound and sometimes
humorous spiritual insights provided in this book. Interestingly, a number of readers have responded with only one
word: "Wow!" And I take that word as a high compliment. I hope you
enjoy the fantastic journey too! EXCERPTED from Danny The Prophet: A Fantastic Journey by Tom

Never! People get upset with prophets who tell them truths they'd like to
forget. And a prophet has no life of his own. I planned to live my life my
own way, so I was unyielding in my decision not to follow in my brother's
prophetic footsteps. "Look, I won't be a damn prophet. I'm not cut out
for it. I'm going into public relations so people will like me, not hate
me." Page 22...Talking into the wind, I said, "I feel like the
original shrinking man. Hey, Danny, where are you?" I had a swirling
mind filled with memories, but I felt like there was no me left. "I
feel so alone!" I shouted to the wind. "I've got nothing and
nobody! I'm a has-been, and I feel like a never-was!" Page 62...When the crowd revived, empty booze tankards were heaved
at us, the way people had thrown tomatoes at my father, my brother, and me.
When Aurea saw me duck a missile, she said, "Where is your trust? Do
you not know that you are protected?" "I think my trust is back at
Chapelsea Cove, in my booze cabinet." Page 86...The gatekeeper for The Pier's parking area asked, "Havin'
a nice talk with yourself, pal?" "I'm talking to Aurea. She's an angel." "You're talking to an empty sidewalk."
Aurea said, "Daniel, gaze into the gift shop's mirror." I
saw just me and the gatekeeper. "You alone see and hear me. I am
invisible to others now." Page 99..."Welcome to the Harry Monday Show, people. We offer
a straight half-hour of discussion, with no phone calls. I want you to meet
a character who calls himself Danny the prophet, but you'll remember him as
Senator Danny Lyons who wielded power on The Hill with an iron fist.
Welcome, Danny." "Thanks for inviting me, Harry." "Why do you think you're becoming an overnight media
sensation, Danny?" Bostonia Magazine "AN AMUSING-BUT-SERIOUS CONTEMPORARY PILGRIM'S PROGRESS." The Cape Codder "an interesting man with a sense of HUMOR...his TRANSFORMATION
into spiritual messenger is wholly CREDIBLE...both YOUNG AND OLD WILL
ENJOY." Cape Cod Times "The author draws on his background as health and spirituality writer to show with FANTASY and MYSTICISM the transformation of Danny from a reluctant prophet....THE SCENES ARE ENTERTAINING, THE MESSAGE POSITIVE. |
